Reimbursement for Services

Hospice care is paid for by Medicare, Medicaid and many private plans. Medicare and Medicaid cover the cost of medications, equipment and supplies related to the hospice diagnosis.

  • Medicare does not pay for room and board, and neither does private insurance. It is important that the patient and family know this before making a decision to transfer to a facility.

  • Some long-term care policies may pay for room and board, but all have different regulations, so it is always best for the family to check the policy details.

  • Medicaid would pay for room and board with a completed and approved application. Our social worker can always help with that process.

And thanks to support from The Hospice of Chattanooga Foundation, we can help cover costs for those with no ability to pay.
